PEEL BACK THE PURLING, HISS IS ALONE ON TOUR!

posted March 18th, 2016

Purling Hiss was always a home-made daydream conceived in the cortexial-folds of Mike Polizze's mind, OK? That conception, initially four-tracked and blown out in Polizze's basement all by his lonesome, has blossomed into the high-flying dive-bomb blister of a power trio that festers and oozes with high-gain six-string slingin' across a bubbling, slithering rhythm section. That's the vibe of last year's Weirdon, which cloaks some of the best pure-rock righting in recent times, and 2013's Water On Mars, which carried serious... (read more)

RACE FOR THE PRISE

2016’s heating up! Literally! It’s like we told you! The world’s coming to an end! These are “End Times”! Literally! And the sooner the big blast comes the better! Because the way it’s looking, if the race survives, it’ll be in its most animalistic form! And people are the worst! Who will WIN? May the source deliver us from any kind of year dictated by who wins or loses! But that’s all there are,... (read more)

NEWSOM DIVES INTO YOUR LIVING ROOM THRU THE SMALL SCREEN TONIGHT, THEN TOURS!

posted March 16th, 2016

Network television has stood the test of time, standing tall next to its younger brothers and sisters Cable, Satellite and Streaming (these will be actual names in the future, we predict!). It's sturdy and reliable; always there like you wish your best pal would be, and aside from mainstream news and reality programming, it showcases that elusive upper crust of modern society in the world of entertainment. Ah, the invisible rich! How we wish they could entertain us endlessly! Of course they DO do this,... (read more)

WE"VE GOT LEVITATION!

posted March 9th, 2016

Thalia Hall, it's like we love you or something! Two Ty shows down already this week, and we're heading for the ceiling of our natural experiential threshold. We may or may not be experienced (is it for us to say?) but we're prepared nonetheless to swoop down and hear the sound and movements of the Trux - Royal Trux, that is, along with the handful of worthy fellow-travellers (including another two we call our own) playing out Pilsen-way this weekend at Levitation Chicago!

LAETITIA SADIER LEADS THE WAY TO GERMANY AND THE UK

posted March 8th, 2016

Laetitia Sadier shines on! Still cruising the world over and under off the back of her magnificent Something Shines LP, she's poised to embark on a solid stint through the forward-looking back-lands of Germany, a slate of shows beginning in the fresh n' hip center of the humanities, Cologne, and running 5 nights across the country, landing in Berlin. Then, following a quick layover in Copenhagen for a one-off winner, Ms. Sadier gives the UK punters what they want -  elevated music, something between a... (read more)

posted March 4th, 2016

Galloping  through your synapses like a ceaseless wind, Rangda intrinsically thin the herd of boring-ass rock bands that flood your news feeds. Theirs is the natural order; deeply abraded but armed with fury, serpentine wisdom and the ability to seamlessly meld tightly structured riffage with the sound of the free! Unleashed on February 19th, The Heretic's Bargain is a supercharged full length, rife with dynamic and aggressive movements; the sum total of three distinct musical minds at work TOGETHER.

Which brings us to their... (read more)

NEED A BABYSITTER? THE RED KRAYOLA GOT YOU COVERED!

posted March 3rd, 2016

Dig it, a newly-unearthed artifact from the long history of The Red Krayola: 1984's previously-unheard Baby and Child Care! Every year, we discover in our society the injustices of history in many and myriad forms. Surely among the most profound realizations of 2016 will be that the heads of (record) industry circa 1984 did not hear a fantastic new release when the tapes for Baby and Child Care were played to them! Grooving sinuously in prime mid-80s form in a production redolent with... (read more)

With her much-anticipated fourth album Crab Day due for release on April 15th, Cate Le Bon has today unveiled a video to new single 'Wonderful'! Directed by regular collaborator Casey Raymond and shot in Berlin, the video features our heroine performing an idiosyncratic freeform dance-cum-exercise routine. Don't call it a comeback---Lightstorm has been here for years!
