BIG "THINGS" ARE ON DISPLAY AT SOCCER CLUB CLUB

On view through June 22nd, "Things" at the Soccer Club Club brings you wildly original artworks by Drag City's own Jennifer Herrema and Ty Segall, set like jewels among a delirious matrix of objects made by contemporary artists. Highlights include hand-embroidered garments by Los Angeles artist JPW3, Max Hooper Schneider's Nightmare Catcher and a rare US showing of the 1993 work Weihnachtsbaum by influential Swiss artist Roman Signer.

SPIRIT NOT WILLING, DOPE BODY DONE

That's right - Dope Body are breaking up! Does that mean that Baltimore is GOING to hell, or coming from it? Since 2009, the digitally-shocked power trio fronted with gutter-boy polemics and screamed effusion erupted repeatedly with a SHIT-TON of heat on their four album and live shows played anywhere and everywhere all around the US and Europe. It was after their INSANE 2011 Nupping record that we caught them in a basement show and were blown the fuck DOWN by their energy. It figures... (read more)

Since 1998, Faun Fables has represented the musical world of Dawn McCarthy, visited in collaboration with her partner Nils Frykdhal. In early times, their wild spirit roamed the streets and hills of the SF-Oakland community and, pilgrim-like, wandered the world, self releasing music before continuing onward to create six albums for Drag City.

HAGERTY LEADS THE WAY: TIME TO HEAD "COLFAX WEST"

It's a HEX-plosion! With the release of Denver earlier this month and a hex-cellent music video for "Mountain" directed by Fred Armisen, Neil Michael Hagerty & The Howling Hex has raised the bar for every other record that dares to come out this year! Denver is a bonafide pop record, that is of course assuming your version of pop includes having Neil Hagerty at the helm throwing melodies, rhythms and hooks into a schizoid blender and serving it up ice cold!
