Six Organs of Admittance Provide Post-Thanksgiving Relief with In-Store Performances and Hexadic Talks!

posted November 24th, 2015

Spirits rejoice! Mathletes too! The release of Six Organs of Admittance's much-speculated-upon sequel to Hexadic, aptly entitled Hexadic II, has FINALLY arrived a full NINE months after the monolithic original hit down, and in celebration of that achievement, Mr. Six Organs himself, Ben Chasny, has some last minute tricks up his sleeve! Thanksgiving kinda sucks, right?  First there's the travel hell, from which there is no escape. Upon arriving "home," you devour your weight in traditional family holiday fare, then attempt... VETERANS OF DISORDER

Times are tough, they say! So they are – and so have they always been! But not for us. In a world poleaxed by cultural divides, class struggles, partisan opinions, the poverty gap, mind-bogglingly violent expressions and (continued) governmental indifference to actual change, we utilize the systems at hand to deal in the propagation of….music! Yeah, and even though there are at least a dozen ways to make it divisive right off the bat (et tu, Spotify?),... (read more)

RANGDA REVEAL THE HERETIC'S BARGAIN!

posted November 19th, 2015

Rangda! They planted a False Flag in the blood-soaked turf of the contemporary rock-politik. They were Formerly Extinct before you ever even THOUGHT about giving it up for good! Now, five years since ascending to collective Rangdadom, the flower-plower trio are back in your phase! This time around, Rangda strikes The Heretic's Bargain for you - but have a care, foolish listener; not only is it an offer you can't refuse, this here's a deal you can't repeal!

Ever since the... (read more)

WAND OF THE LOST (Tour Report, Pt 4)

posted November 18th, 2015

REPORT 4:
Missoula, 11/3. Real Lounge.

Saw a massive, beautiful Great Dane with no collar at a gas stop in east Washington. He boofed and woo-woo'd at us. The gas attendant said that he had an owner, and treated us like we all needed to "relax" and stop trying to control "everything." Whatever. Best part of the dog? It's the dog.

S-W?? We are still unsure.

Cory fell deep into mouth-open sleep as we drove... (read more)

DON'T JUST LISTEN TO IT; WATCH THE SILENCE!

posted November 17th, 2015

The noise of a new week is upon us. Doesn't anyone remember peace and quiet? If not, then please join us in listening to the sounds of The Silence! No, not that John Cage hoohah,  something new instead - Japanese psych master Masaki Batoh's newest endeavor of mammoth proportions!

This time, there are sounds you don't just hear, what? Right, although "Little Red Record Company" is an exquisite and intense rock arrangement of a classic Damon and Naomi jam, there's now... (read more)

WAND TOUR REPORT 3:
Olympia 11/2, Obsidian.

Olympia, what can we say about Olympia? Show was all killer zero filler, as we have come to expect from that fine lil city and from our friends in PB who slay night after night. We all celebrated a job well done with a healthy helping of karaoke at The Clipper. Cory sang "Golden Years" by David Bowie, and Marvin sang "I Wanna Be Adored" by The Stone Roses. The DJ showered... GENTLY AND SOFTLY SING THE BLUE JEAN COMMITTEE

posted November 13th, 2015

Ahhhhh. The feeling of a fresh cotton towel straight out of the dryer; draping your skin in warm and fluffy hug of fabric. Or maybe the soft touch of puffy kittens entangled in your arms? These simple feelings of pleasure and contentment are often hard to emulate...unless you're the Blue Jean Committee! The almost-otherworldly quality of the smooth-n silky vocal harmonies of softrock legends Clark Honus and Gene Allen possess an ability to instantly transport and relax your body and mind to a peaceful... WAND TOUR REPORT #2

October 31st (HALLOWEEN), Vancouver BC

We drove to Olympia after the Portland show. Corey (from Vexx n GLOSS, insane drummer) had secured us a house to catch a few hours of sleeeeeeeeeep. We were greeted by friend Alice who woke from her slumbery haze to greet us and give us a tour of her room. We talked about Hole and Manson fam and interior decorating. There were shards of broken mirror all over the floor.

THE RED KRAYOLA PRESENT CORRECTED SLOGANS LIVE!

posted November 6th, 2015

The Red Krayola. Let's not be hyperbolic or anything (what, we exaggerate?) but Mayo Thompson and The Red Krayola have  essentially inverted entire genres of music with their  redefinitions of 'rock' over the years. They've managed to make albums entirely distinct from each other time and again. However, this weekend, for the first time, Mayo will lead The Red Krayola through a live set of the Corrected Slogans albums at the esteemed REDCAT (at CalArts Downtown Center for Contemporary Arts) in Los Angeles tomorrow.
