SALUD: CHILEANS PREPARE TO RIDE WITH BLUES CONTROL!

posted April 29th, 2014

Power duo Blues Control spent the better part of two years globally burning rubber (figuratively! our BC buddies are PC when it come to eco, friends) for their latest full-length, Valley Tangents. Four continents of fans, to be precise, reveled in their modified, cop-chasing whip of sound: a brutal racer with hood stripped away, revealing the glorious engine guts of keys, guitars, and beats oiled up and humming. Simply put: arguably the finest machine any two-lane blacktop or similarly traveled field has ever experienced... (read more)

A LETTER REVEALS WE ARE SURROUNDED BY WHITE FENCE

posted April 28th, 2014

Pop songs aired out and pasted, blown dry in today's new air. Old School psyike reimaged in 21st century, formed and free stripes n' dots. Lyrics to make us laugh in reverie, lines from the private libraries of the nobility of old, fucked. The jocundity of White Fence. Since stewarding Hair, we'd chased a shadow, guiltily wondering, who do we disenfranchise to make the pleasure of working with them ours? Suddenly, without warning: the arrival of a bulging, slight package at our door.... (read more)

GET EXTENDED, PLAYER, BY NEIL MICHAEL HAGERTY & THE HOWLING HEX!

posted April 24th, 2014

The Howling Hex continue to patrol the borders of our shared musical culture, reflecting on the strange things a man might see out there in the wilderness- and more to the point, the details a man might miss. Their next release is a 10" single with two long tracks that push beyond previous entries in The Howling Hex's catalog - believe it! While it's true that The Howling Hex routinely set and achieve this goal on all their albums, on this special 10", the... (read more)

The bouncy pop-tones of Sean O'Hagan's High Llamas are timeless, at once occupying genres both modern and retro, for an entirely unique listening experience. And listening is the key; meticulous arrangements and airy acoustics have been most resonant in recent Llamas albums like Talahomi Way and Can Cladders, creating a most pleasurable aural experience for listeners and performers alike! DEATH COMES TO LOS ANGELES -- IN THREES !

posted April 18th, 2014

Sure, LA had a thriving punk scene, and yeah, it involved some death of its very own! But DEATH was actually something bigger than passing through to the next phase for 3 Detroit kids playing guitar, bass, and drums in 1974 - it was a band, with a sound ahead of its time, who finally got the whole world to see them in 2009 with the release of ...For The Whole World To See. But hell, you know the story! You've seen the doc,... (read more)

Pusswhip Banggang first debuted on "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" in 2006. Songs like "Fudge Man," "Kiss Me Once" and "Don't Call Me Uncle" established the group as a leader in swamp rock. They toured in 2010, playing for thousands of fans across the USA. Their first official release is not only a song, but also a recipe for one of the great Naw-Luns dishes: Jambalaya.

OM YEAH!

posted April 15th, 2014

During this season of the ominous Blood Moon, with all it's vibrations and implications, we know: it's tempting for you to hide your fragile mortal selves for a while and avoid whatever intense change the Tetrad has to bring. But dig it, people - you don't have to hide out when you've got a field of low end force surrounding you! OM radiate heavy, heady and ultimately calming tones to help guide us through the cosmos; they reach faithfully toward the skies without fear, knowing... (read more)

"FEEL" A NEW SINGLE FROM TY SEGALL!

posted April 11th, 2014

Ty Segall strikes back! His first new record since Sleeper is a 7-inch single that comes busting out the gate with a whiplash of headbanging licks building up out of a hard-strummed acoustic riff. With lots of room for solos and cosmic lyrics like "feed the freaks in the skies, let them live in each other's eyes," "Feel" is the fist-pumping roller-coaster ride through the fun house that will leave you grinning with rad-itude. "The Fakir" dims the lighs for an acoustic recital, but Ty... (read more)

NEW BUMS WRAP UP USA ON WEST COAST, SET COURSE FOR UK GRAVES TOUR

posted April 9th, 2014

New Bums have just about finished thumbin' around the USA leaving echoes of their dueling guitars and voices all around the finest and ugliest venue circuit this country has to offer. It's a Bums' life, where delicacies of both high and low cultures are to be cherished, like the fellow humans and sub-humans their songs both describe and appeal towards. Now, with the end of the USA leg in plain site (get on it, San Francisco!), these Bums set their sights on Europe, with... (read more)
