Quakebasket is pleased to announce two forthcoming LPs by Tim Barnes, to be released on June 27: Lost Words and Noumena. Both records are the products of years of work, undertaken after Tim went public with his diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer’s. A host of collaborators stepped up to participate, including Joshua Abrams (Natural Information Society), Oren Ambarchi, Ken Brown (Tortoise, Gastr del Sol, Pullman), David Daniell, John Dieterich (Deerhoof), Darin Gray, David Grubbs, Glenn Kotche (Wilco), Roberto Carlos Lange (Helado Negro), Alan Licht, Rob Lundberg, Rob Mazurek, Doug McCombs (Tortoise, Pullman), Matt Mehlan, Tara Jane O’Neil, Jim O’Rourke, Chad Taylor, Thollem, Britt Walford (Slint), Mike Watt and Ken Vandermark. As such, the two albums span a wide range of styles, including full on free improv workouts, gentle meditative ECM-style ruminations, angular post-whatever romps and even a danceable number or two, all tied together by Tim's propulsive foundation.
The first single, "At The Threshold," from Lost Words is available for streaming here. It features a reunion of the classic 90s Jim O'Rourke band, with Jim, Tim, Darin Gray and Glenn Kotche. You can also add or save Noumena to your playlists here. Preorders are available now!
