Back at the end of last year, we were frankly excited and ready to take you back down the years to the first two Rafael Toral records, Sound Mind Sound Body and Wave Field, remastered and repackaged to appear on vinyl for the first time ever! They were scheduled for February release, and then the unexpected happened - goblins, not of freedom so much as production, got in the way. The test pressings sounded wack, which is always a drag, but is especially distressing when you are listening to kind of minimalist action evident in Rafael's playing. So we went back to the drawing board and got it sorted. And now, here we are and it's May - not so much long later, if you don't pay attention to the curvature of time filtered through the internet, at which point February looks like it was ten months ago! So we're of the mind to remind one and all that Sound Mind Sound Body (30th Anniversary Edition) and Wave Field LPs are going to be shipping out to mailorder customers and shops around the world, bringing Toral's completely individual approach to guitar stylization to listeners once again, but this time in the generous depth brought by vinyl dynamics. Like the Arnold Dreyblatt and Nuno Canavarro releases from dexter's cigar and Moikai before them, these releases are going to be a welcome addition to the platters of the open eared everywhere. Don't miss them - again!
