WAND CALL A TOWN MEETING IN TOWNS AROUND EUROPE!

posted August 30th, 2018

Aside from a pit-stop at Desert Daze Festival in October, Wand's forthcoming European tour is THE most Wand-erful event remaining in 2018! Wand have burned up the road from yon to thither (that's Bulgaria to Hungary, for those of you who don't have a map) for years now, and the results are evident everywhere, especially all over Europe, but ESPECIALLY the UK, where their last tour was completely SOLD OUT!

When Wand make music and tour, they do it for everyone,... (read more)

Strange things were happening in the world of the music business. The music itself was still alive, but the bodies formerly inhabited by that music were being rapidly abandoned. The music maybe was getting big-headed, thinking it could survive without a real host. Regardless, it was getting eerily hostile. Making new music for this environment was a challenge for Will Oldham, who had too much invested in the making of music to just let it run free in this lawless climate. So Oldham continued... PYCNIC AROUND THE WORLD WITH KA BAIRD

posted August 23rd, 2018

We are standing on the verge of a great chasm! Ka Baird's Sapropelic Pycnic uses tools both ancient and modern to draw all who listen - upward, toward the eternal. Baird's crafting of textural rhythmic noise alongside lush operatic passages summons all of her physical, mental and spiritual energy within the wilds of her own unconscious. A live performance functions as an exorcism as Ka imbibes sounds to provoke unseen forces generating a different, yet equally as mesmerizing gig every night. As the... (read more)

Bill Callahan's live performances are a panoramic sound-screen filled with verdant and sparkling songs, allowing him access to depths of expression which provide stirring views of a little thing called, "soul." When Dawn McCarthy and Will Oldham first met face-to-face, they were on the road together. They learned and sang the Everly Brothers classic “So Sad (to Watch Good Love Go Bad)”. Years later, McCarthy suggested to Oldham that they sing some more Everly jams together, and Oldham was immediately ready with an arsenal of potential works for them to embrace. He sent a long list to Dawn, and she picked and choosed from them, and together they came up with the playlist for WHAT THE... (read more)

THE PLANETS ALIGN FOR THE RETURN OF ESPERS

posted August 13th, 2018

Espers' meshing and merging of synergistic elements and cosmic reverberations construct a trans-formative experience for all involved, but for the past several years, the only way to be experienced as such was by listening to their amazing records.  Whelp, that's about to change! The original group (Greg Weeks, Meg Baird, Brooke Sietinsons, Helena Espvall, Otto Hauser) are coming back together for a string of special performances in and around their old stomping grounds on the East Coast. More adventures for what we may call the Babblers Band (Ben Boye, Van Campbell, Emmett Kelly, Danny Kiely, Will Oldham and Angel Olsen), under the auspices of Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy. There were two songs from the WOLFROY GOES TO TOWN batch of constructed jammers for which there was neither time nor psychological space to complete during the WOLFROY sessions. However, everybody knew how to play the songs and wanted to track them, so Oldham booked time at David... (read more)
