The warmth of this summer may be fading, but the light of Jill Fraser continues to pour in! Today, the electronic composer releases “Beautiful Summer”, a 1904 hymn read anew by machines of the future that serves as the second and final single off her forthcoming album, Earthly Pleasures.

On “Beautiful Summer”, Jill’s Serge and Prism modular units offer luminous bell tones and chimes to build her arrangement up towards the heavens, placing the notes in alternative sequences of time and harmonic variation as the momentum builds. Her arrangement brings a sense of budding rebirth, new cognition, and a belief that music will find an exalted place regardless of the world that’s coming. The track is a shining example of Jill’s regenerative take on the late 19th and early 20th century revival hymns featured throughout Earthly Pleasures; Jill aimed to make them “unrecognizable yet still retain the inspiration and emotion,” as she states in the liner notes.
