To boot up “Confusion Is SysEx”, hard edits of aquatic synth thunderheads and crumpled balls of digi-junk bop up slowly, as Dean cracks open every preset on his trusty E-mu Mo’Phatt unit. Then, in rhythmic layers, heavenly string pads seep in with god-like infallibility, breaking like waves upon the eternal shore; the track’s pious beauty walks dry-eyed to the altar, hand-in-hand with finger-popping, knee-slapping hilarity. Dean and Roy Tatum’s music video scrolls through forum post pleas of fellow Mo’Phatt Phollowers, scrambling in flux with the music itself. Is Dean's wisdom the answer to their prayers?

Basic Editions hits shelves September 27, 2024, designed comfortably for the masses — much like the K-Mart clothing line it’s named after! A few days after that, Dean’s packing up the Mo’Phatt for a free record release show in Los Angeles at Zebulon, followed by a West Coast tour with The Split Bell Chime and dates in Chicago, New York, London and Amsterdam.
