This town ain't big enough for the.....all the lovers of the new Bill Callahan record!? They're definitely gonna need more than the one horse, that's for sure. With new songs every week from the new album in his saddlebags, Bill's the fastest gun in the west these days.

 

With "Cowboy", Callahan seems to be implying that the only new cowboys anymore are the ones watching old cowboys on the late, late show. Legend and lore calcify into concrete while trumpet obbligati drift over the border - mariachi-style at times, cavalry/bugle at others - as pitch-perfect showbiz whistles float in the Hollywood sunset backing this slow-dying dream. Put it to bed, Uncle Sam - you've got better things to do than chase up another wannabe dueler-in-the-sun.
 

For less than a fistful of dollars (sob!), give "Cowboy" a listen right about now.
