Russ Waterhouse's forward thinking, radical conceptions of sound, space and composition have uniquely marked his work, as one half of the shape-shifting duo Blues Control and, more recently, as a solo artist. With the imminent release of 1 Minute 2 Midnight, Russ will be taking his primary instrument, the mixer, to select east coast cities. Russ's performances modulate and extend his 1M2M material, drawing field records, synthesizer, guitar and effects into new proportions. As powerful of a recital of experimental practices as the album is, it's a trip to hear the music in it's native live setting - that's how it was initialized, in live performance, and its growth from the point of the recording is as provocative as the album itself. 
 
1 Minute 2 Midnight is disorienting, abstract and often aggro, yet hauntingly intimate, charting the arc of a fading relationship and the terror of the loneliness beyond in blistering, ultimately cathartic juxtapositions of sound. One hopes that this journey that doesn't have to be repeated on a personal basis - but it is certainly one that's yielded an engrossing album of material that will have you flipping the sides over and over again for repeat experiences.   
 
Now east coasters stand in the path of this heavy load - anyone looking to clean their own clocks for reasons of their own should head to the shows! Russ Waterhouse's upcoming dates are his first in support of 1 Minute 2 Midnight. With any luck, there'll be a lot more: the people of this world could use a sonic death trip to get their heads right!
