Fripp and Eno. Simon and Garfunkel. Belle and Sebastian. All imprecisely perfect duos pitting creative force against steadfast chemistry, with cohesion radiating from every sound. Bill MacKay and Katinka Kleijn operate in this rarefied air, with a goal in mind - taking the music, elevating the changes through levels of controlled chaos, letting it spread out and breathe through them with a clear, path beyond: to symmetry, and the peak! 

One of the most stunning examples of this process can be found on Bill & Katinka's latest single, "Path to the Peak". MacKay and Kleijn take their instrumental ascendance in turn, winding quietly, yet restlessly upward, with pizzicato strings, glass slide and a patience that borders on oneness leading the way. They paint a picture of sound in watercolor, oil and charcoal; an omnidextrous approach, fluid and precise in its movements. Gazing inward to make an outward bound, Kleijn and MacKay's intuitive ability to unfurl improvisations in tandem is evident throughout STIR, their native gifts reveling in humble transcendence.
