Pack your bags, and let's hit the road. Running from the sunset, heading for the morning. You know the old American road story, worn thin, and still swinging like a flag above the interstate. Worn like a cape. Simple pleasures are always attached to complex and desperate contexts. Wand are a band in pursuit of these contradictions- their electric, shifting perspective is rendered more vividly than ever on their forthcoming full-length, Laughing Matter. Their new single is "Rio Grande," and it's  accompanied by a homespun, road worn visual directed by vocalist/guitarist Cory Hanson. 
 
Understated yet sublime, "Rio Grande" takes you on an astral journey there and back from and to terra firma, elevated on its way by Sofia Arreguin's gorgeous harmonies and the striking agreement between Robbie and Cory's conversant guitars. The video acts as a cut and paste diary, each image carefully torn from a page. Fear and fun, love and labor, horizons, borders, hungry industry and hungry sky. Laughing Matter represents two feet firmly posted in the future, informed by a searching past.
