YES WE CALLAHAN!

posted June 11th, 2018

Gee, in principle it is NOT easy generating these Bill Callahan tour updates several times a year - and not because we don't love the guy, but it's been a damn MINUTE since he put out new music. Generally with these things, one tends to boomerang the nature of the tour piece around the tone of the record in most recent memory. For that, we have to reach back to Dream River in late 2013 - or, if you're really counting, Have Fun With God, the Dream-River-in-Dub album that followed in early 2014. Where have you gone, Bill Callahan? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you - onstage only, thank the life force for the small miracles! When we're personally witness to the effect that Bill brings to a roomful of people with his songs, and the vibe of resonance that radiates, it's then that it all clicks, and we're ready to write another forthcoming-dates notice.

To wit - Everyone's favorite baritoned bard is back with a swing of September west-coast performances; California up through Canada, and back again! Billy C needs no introduction at this point, I mean lately, the man is accolade-accumulating as if it was an Olympic sport. With no news as re: a forthcoming album, you'll just have to "settle" for the ingenuity and flair of this singular songwriter, which isn't settling at all, it's 100% pure benefit, can't buy it in a bottle, all you gotta do is jump! When Bill sings even a sentence the world becomes a little deeper (and therefore, and much necessarily so, better!), so we know that you'll want to do your part to help make our planet a more joyous place and go to the Callahan show, come September!
