For the first time in more than a coupla years, Sir Richard Bishop will tour the U.S. Of A! Awesomely, the six-string pioneer of guitar freakery returns to put an exclamation point on this summer of love, 2014. Rick Bishop been traveling the space ways since the early 80s, as one third of Sun City Girls before striking out solo, in case you're too young to know what made you. Fresh minds will recall Sir Richard Bishop's varied, odyssey-of-an-album: Polytheistic Fragments; and his focused ode to Egyptian guitarist Omar Khorshid: The Freak of Araby. Not to mention his super band with those super bros (Ben Chasny and Chris Corsano) -- Rangda! Whichever flame he stokes, be it frantic guitar compositions or explorations into shortwave radio transmissions or film soundtracks (Korine's Mister Lonely, anyone?), the thing that gets us hottest is seeing SRB sit down and stretch out with his ax sans fanfare; be it electric or acoustic, as long as it's got six strings and a fretboard (or some variation of either), it's gonna get bent in all the right places! Don't miss it, fool, lest ye become years older, wishing you'd seen a master in his prime (and yours)! Sir Richard Bishop's tour begins August 29th, with Bhutanese improvisational guitarist Tashi Dorji supporting all shows!
