An' wot's a video, anyway? Does it embody the song or the does the song embody the video? Does it merely compliment the sound, or does tha visual describe the literal up-and-down of the words-n-music play? "Glyphs" may be working on a tune, or perhaps it's simply for people who took hippie showers. Or maybe it's about them? Wot's the burning effigy, is it representative of the ancient past? Who's the pretty boy and all his young dudes and the flag and drums and the burning? How to contemplate....mmm. We understand that Sic Alps is an American band, despite the Beatles-y, Walrus-y twists in their sound, that this time, they're singing about writing atop their stoned string shamble, and that furthermore, this "Glyphs" vid's got a visi-suggestion of couching work in play - a day at the beach, it almost seems! That's an attractive proposition. Wot's more, the Yellow Manager Hollies in the song's sign-off are right up our ally, too. Sic Alps have self-titled their latest LP, out on September 18th - because it's just them, you know wot I mean? You'll hear "Glyphs" on S/T, sure, but you can watch "Glyphs" now, here.
