THE FAUN OF THE OPERA

posted January 9th, 2012

Dawn McCarthy heads the Faun Fables stable, and therefore is clearly no stranger to the stage. Typical Faun Fables performances are often quite theatrical, and of course, their Transit Rider album was itself a musical that, when toured, was performed theatrically. We're psyched to see Dawn dust off her acting hat once again, this time in The Crucible's production of MACHINE: A World Premiere Fire Opera. Dawn plays a lead as Brigid in the production, based on a sci-fi short by Derek J. Goodman, which is set in a fiery industrial universe in which workers have sold themselves into a lifetime of servitude. When one worker regains his power of self-determination, things get a little nuts with mad escape plots, alliances, and strange trysts. Dawn is listed as the only "rock and roll singer," surrounded by opera singers and an orchestra including 5 spectacularly unique percussionists. Expect molten metal pours, fire performers, and industrial artists such as glass blowers and blacksmiths! And above all, expect a riveting performance from our gal, Dawn McCarthy! Extra bonus - Faun Fables music will be available for sale on site - after the killer performance, you can grab Light Of A Vaster Dark as well as deep cuts galore without even leaving the theatre!
